Alwire is a social news network community platform that lets ordinary people become news reporters by posting news and articles. This application relies on ordinary people to report latest headlines, news and updates as they witness new stories thus creating an open system which brings real news by real people.

In this blog, we will write down steps that are needed to post a news on alwire. In this blog, we are only covering the website. Another blog will be added later to show you how to add latest news using alwire mobile app.

Follow Your Favorite Posts and Stories with ‘Alwire’

We are all accustomed to "Follow" feature on many social platforms, thanks to twitter for making it extremely popular. You can follow users and trends on twitter and get consolidated updates in your feeds related to latest entertainment news, technology news, sports news and top stories. Pretty awesome!

Alwire, a rising social platform, tends to revolutionize how we receive and conceive news by taking control of news out of the hands of the mainstream media and giving that to ordinary people. They claim to bring to us real news by real people. Besides several new innovative ideas they bring to the table, they have also enhanced 'follow' feature by allowing users to follow a post, another reporter, city and even a street address.

While the first two may sound familiar but the latter two are very unique. So let's look at all four of them one by one.

Follow a Post - If you like a news and want to receive more updates on that, or, want to know what people are saying about that post, simply follow it. You will receive alerts, if enabled, as well as get notified via push notifications on your mobile app.

Follow a Reporter - When you follow a reporter, your feed shows all posts and updates posted by that user. Leveraging this, reporters can also publicize their public profile page by adding lots of quality posts and by attracting more followers.

Follow a City - Following a city will deliver the consolidated top news of that city into your feed. You can also view popular ads in that city and be the first one to grab best deals out there.

Follow a street address - This very unique feature is embedded into 'My neighborhoods' section which enables you to add your street address to automatically receive alerts and feeds for your street. You can follow up to 5 such addresses and stay up-to-date with them.

All these 4 options give users the incredible ability to alter their feeds. And just the way you can easily follow an address, city, reporter and post, you can unfollow these options at any time.
We are hopeful to see many more follow options in alwire in future.

Here Is How You Can Extend Your Local Reach With ‘alwire’

Are you a local business owner and looking to reach out to potential buyers in your area? Well, there are many options but most of them are expensive. So what should you do? Post a free ad on alwire and link it with your business address. Simple!

alwire, a California based startup company, continues to impress with its feature upgrades. They just recently launched free classifieds that, just like the news on their system, are linked with actual addresses. Essentially, you can now post free ads that are visible to potential buyers in your local area.

At first, alwire ads appear to be normal ads visible on the website and mobile app, but the tight integration with actual addresses make them very focused and targeted. When you post an ad, it automatically shows up to people in that area. People in theneighborhood automatically receive that ad in their account feed along with the notification, if enabled, within 5 miles radius. That means, you can target customers that are likely to visit and make purchases.

Posting an ad is very simple in both, the Apple IOS app and the website. After logging in, click on 'Add Post' button on the website or '+' icon in the mobile app. On the subsequent screen, select "Post a free ad" option. The following screen asks for all the information you need to provide in your ad, including media that consists of both pictures and videos. It also requires you to select the address of your business for whom you are postingthat ad. It also asks you to put your contact information where you may be contacted. Once posted, your ad will be available to thousands of visitors on alwire.

alwire has a classified section for listing all ads as well. When you click on ‘Classified Ads’ link, you are taken to a page with category filters where you can view ads in a specific category. This way users can browse through all ads if they wish so. Other sections in alwire include technology news, travel news, sports news and latest stories.

Some tips to improve customer response:

·         Don't forget to upload video and/or images with your ad. They always help drive more traffic to your ads. More traffic means more outreach and hence more customers.

·         These ads are great place to offer discounts and deals. You can grab people's attention by offering them interesting deals.

·         You can put in ‘never-expiring’ ads as well. Do this only for your business’ general ads that are not talking about a limited deal.

As per alwire’s spokesman, company is working on several new features that will give users a lot more freedom and several new ways to collaborate. Company is also working on enhancing classified ads module to make it much more flexible for the users.

OPEN for all Social News Network

A new startup, ‘alwire’, aims at being an ‘OPEN for all’ Social News Network where, ANYONE can add posts, updates, and views about any event that takes place around them. Users, upon encountering anything news-worthy, say for instance an automobile accident, may record a video of the incident using their cell phones, add details to it, and then upload it to the server, for all to view and comment upon. The alwire mobile app comes with a Location Detection feature which, when enabled, automatically detects the location of the posting users, or allows them to select the location of the incident themselves.

Once the news is posted, it immediately becomes available to the masses, who may not only view the post, but may also choose to help the community by letting everyone know whether the news is credible or not. Alwire, has its own credibility engine that determines how authentic the post is, by using a secret algorithm, which assigns a credibility rating to the post, and presents it as a percentage. The higher the percentage of the reported top news, the greater is its credibility. No brainer, right?

The alwire system is completely OPEN, and allows other users to add updates to existing posts, as they become available. The ‘In-line’ comments feature makes it all the more easier to discuss any news that is posted. The BEST thing about alwire is, that it associates every top news with an address. Now imagine, you observe an incident, and you decide to report it with videos, or images, or just as an article, and EVERYONE in the vicinity of the incident gets to know about it, almost instantaneously.

You may also choose the posts you would like to receive based on the location they are being reported from. Presently, alwire provides 4 Location Preferences.

Global – You receive the latest news from all over the world.
Region – You get to set it to something like Asia, North America, the Middle East etc.
Country – You get to view the news from your country alone.
City – Yeah, you guessed it. You may set it to your own city as well.

Now that’s cool, but what if users want to see updates from around a certain address, say, their own street? The answer is, the ‘My neighborhood’ feature that allows them to get auto updates of their locality once they provide their addresses. They may set their preferences to receive alerts whenever there is an update in that area, and these alerts may be for news, events, or announcements, added by their neighbors.

Another recent addition to alwire is the free ‘Classifieds’ section, where users may add free advertisements for their local areas and target their own local audiences.

alwire is slowly getting traction but it has a long way to go. Considering what Facebook was when it started, I think alwire is off to a great start. Looking for latest entertainment news, political news, sports new or current top headlines? Feel free to try ‘alwire’ now.

Ever Wanted To Become A News Reporter?

The ‘Social News Network’!

They have great significance in our lives. Every day we wake up and look for them, to keep ourselves updated with what is happening around the world. We want to get the latest headlines, and simultaneously, we want to catch up with existing events, as they unfold. There are many mediums which are NOW available to us for getting news. Some, watch News broadcasts on our televisions. Others, rely on newspapers, and magazines for the purpose, while many others use their devices to get news online. Although the mediums of gaining top news are diverse, there's isn't really any diversity at all when it comes to their source. More or less all news networks gather their news from reporters, after which the news are edited and shaped according to the preferences of each network, and then brought to us, in a manner, the networks believe we’d like to see them.

In this editing process, they often add or hide information to make it a more 'sellable' to their audiences. The final product we get is often modified, and far away from the actual TRUTH.

So what should we do about it?

Since forever, there wasn’t anything, any of us could have done. But thanks to technology, we can now make a change. How? By becoming news reporters ourselves. This may sound funny but a new startup that goes by the name, 'alwire', brings to us an amazing concept, making every one of us a news reporter. This new system allows you to post top headlines or news as you witness them happening around you. The cool thing about 'alwire' is that it ties every news article, with an address, letting you find, virtually, latest news about any area as long as other users are posting about it.

Yet another awesome feature is what they call 'My neighborhood'. This feature allows you to add your local address, for example, your home address, your parent's home address, or your office address, as your neighborhood, and ‘alwire’ starts notifying you of events posted in those locations. You can add up to 5 such addresses in alwire as ‘My neighborhood’.

Although the idea of 'real time reporters' is great but how would we know if the news being posted are credible when ANYONE can post them. Luckily, the folks at 'alwire' thought about that too. 'alwire' allows you to mark news as ‘credible’ or ‘not-credible’. Furthermore, it uses its algorithm to calculate the credibility of the news using your confirmations, and then rates them from 0% to 100%.

'alwire' enables you to add updates to existing stories as they unravel. Just like the actual occurrences, updates are also given a credibility rating. The system also allows you to upload pictures and videos of the events along with your posts and updates. And yes, you can do all this from the convenience of your mobile app. Currently they only have an IOS app but we’ve heard that their Android app is coming soon as well, do “Stay tuned”…

We are not sure how far 'alwire' will go but it certainly seems like an interesting concept, and something that promises to fill the gap we have in our news systems.
